Dark Side of Oz

:note: Green Day – “Novocaine”

Daniel, Asa and I went to The Long Ear in Coeur d’Alene today and I bought a Me First and the Gimme Gimmes CD that I didn’t have, and the KMFDM CD called “Symbols.” Daniel got Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” (for reasons I’ll explain later), Green Day’s “American Idiot (which is totally awesome) and a used Dio CD (which is not quite so awesome, in my opinion).

I’m sure many of you have heard of the weird things that happen when you play Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” with The Wizard of Oz, but I am here to tell you that EVERY BIT OF IT IS TRUE. I’m not even a stoner. It is the freakiest thing ever. We went up to Max’s last night and hung out with Max, Hailey, Willie, and Asa. Adam showed up later on. We watched The Wizard of Oz with the CD and freaked out the whole time, and then Adam came over, and we watched the entire thing all over again. It was that cool. So if you’ve been in disbelief, or if you just haven’t heard of it, you need to go rent or obtain the movie and the CD. You start the CD when the MGM lion roars the third time. You’ll know it’s on when the opening credits seem to change with a part in the song, or when something cool happens when Ms. Gulch rides her bike into the scene. I swear to god, it is so cool. You have to put the CD on repeat though, and it’ll play through about three times.

The super weird thing is, is that even the lyrics go along with what’s happening in the movie, even when it’s the 2nd or 3rd time through the CD. Like when they’re in the field of poppies, the music slows down when they start getting tired, and it says something about a field and stuff. We all thought that maybe it wouldn’t work as well the 2nd time through the CD, but it totally did, and then we REALLY had doubts about the 3rd time, but LET ME TELL YOU, it worked. And it was so creepy.

I just found out that Abby still has the EXIT sign I painted when I took basic art in high school. SO AWESOME. :D
