The Hoarding of the Oat Squares

I can’t start my day without breakfast. (Well, I can, but it makes me miserable.) I typically have a bowl of cereal and eat it while I peruse my RSS reader and read new posts.

One of my most favorite cereals to eat is Oat Squares. Problem is, they are RIDICULOUSLY expensive at our local grocery store. We are talking $4.60 for a measly box of cereal. That’s almost FIVE DOLLARS a box. Obscene!

Recently, our grocery store had a sale for $2 boxes of Oat Squares. (“Twoooooo dollarrrrrrrrs!”) I was so excited! We bought a few and ate them almost immediately. So we bought more. And ate those. And bought some more and ate those too. And then Daniel decided to stock up and bought like eight boxes. And after eating some of those, he noticed that the sale was almost over and bought several more boxes.

So! Now we look like crazy Oat Square cereal hoarders but we should be well stocked for a while.

LOST Mixup

During maternity leave, I accidentally got myself addicted to LOST. I think the final episode had just come out, and evvvveryone was talking about it, and seasons 1-5 were on Netflix instant and I thought heck, why not?

OMG.

I couldn’t stop watching. I think I blew through the first two seasons in a long weekend.

Finally, season 6 came out (DVD only) so we put it on our Netflix queue. We received and watched the first disc and then the second disc, and yesterday we got all our nightly prep done by 9pm so we could start on disc three.

I hit play on the first episode, and as the “PRRRVIOUSLY ON LOST” segment started, I got very, very confused.

Things were happening that didn’t happen previously! Nothing made sense! Long-since departed characters were there! Doing weird things! Daniel and I were looking at each other in shock and confusion and stumbling for the remote and WHAT WHAT WHAT?!

Turns out, Netflix had helpfully sent us DISC 4 instead of DISC 3.

Why, Netflix? Why would you do that to someone? LOST is confusing enough as it is, I don’t need to watch it out of order!

(The best part of this is the fact that, because LOST is, well… LOST, I initially was convinced that this was just another flash-back/forward/sideways thing and I was supposed to just roll with it despite having ZERO idea what was going on. Ha.)

Two things

Two things to note about today:

  • Wesley cried for his photos at daycare. His first school picture, and he had a scratched nose and a sad face. I think they got one marginally un-sad photo, so I will share it once I’ve got it. He was wearing jeans, a white turtleneck, and a navy sweater vest. It was beyond adorable and I told him he looked like an accountant. A cute one. With fat cheeks.
  • I have not only procured tickets to the midnight showing of HP7, but babysitting as well! (Thank you, BreAnna!) First date nght in almost eight months! WOOOO! (I have my outfit all ready to go, complete with Hogwarts robes and a prefect badge.)
