Nine Inch Nails
Daniel bought us tickets to Nine Inch Nails for my birthday, way back in June, and tonight was the show!
IT WAS SO GOOD.
They had two ladies doing backup vocals and it was not at all what I would have expected from NIN, but they were phenomenal! Excellent voices.
The bass player reminded me of Rammstein’s keyboardist – a really tall, thin guy – but with big old hipster glasses.
Trent Reznor was wearing harem pants.
There was a guy who played so many different instruments over the course of the show: electric guitar, tambourine, tenor saxophone, marimba, acoustic guitar, shaker, and a guitar he played laying flat like a dulcimer.
The only real downside was the same as any other show – I have really sensitive eyes so when things go from dark to light really quickly, it hurts and it makes my eyes water really badly. And they did it a lot!
They closed out the show by playing Hurt. It was a great way to end the set! I also really liked that they played a version of A Warm Place in the middle of the set – it’s an instrumental song and I love it so, so much.
A big thank you to Daniel for my birthday present, and to my parents for watching Wesley while we’re out!
