In Which I Think I Can Knit

:note: Baz Luhrmann – “Everybody’s Free (To Wear Sunscreen)

I think I have decided what I’m going to do with at least some of the cool yarn I bought. I found a pattern for a Hooded Baby Sweater, and despite the fact that I don’t really know any babies and NO I AM NOT HAVING ONE, I think I will try it. It seems easy enough for a beginner (all sort of rectangular), I just need to remember/re-learn how to purl. It will be my guinea pig.

In that same vein, I covet this Hermione hat. I’d make it myself, but um, it’s hard. I wish I could just pay somebody to do it for me. I’d get the pattern and yarn and someone can just make me a hat. I want the mittens too.

I also found a lovely pattern to make a pig. The site has taken the time to improperly resize their images with HTML, so the pig looks a bit stretched in the photos, but I promise he is cute and I would like to knit him. I don’t know if it’s too hard for me though – it seems like it is, but I think I might also just be bad at interpreting patterns. I find the abbreviations intimidating.

    That pig is probably the silliest thing I’ve ever seen! I love it.

    Ooh, awesome stuff! I’d probably start with something smaller, the bobble hat looks so cute! I’ve only tried knitting once (and made a wristband, aside from the practice misshapen swatch-thing), but it was fun. I can’t believe how incredibly STRETCHY knitted stuff are. So awesome.

    I had real, REAL trouble with the purl stitch at first, too. I almost gave up but started to stare some more at the tutorial images and videos, and finally understood it. It’s actually much simpler than how they explain it.

    -_-;

    Hey, are you coming this way this weekend too? (although you were just here). Bring your knitting and I can help when needed. I love helping anyone get hooked on fiber arts/crafts.

    By the way, the pig is cute/silly. A good quickie to get started on before attempting something bigger. ta-ta
