Baby’s First Christmas

We traveled to Idaho for Wesley’s first Christmas! He had a great time and so did we.

I think his favorite toy was the green ball he got from Grammie Angie and Grandpa Ronnie:

My favorite photo from the vacation:

I Got This.

Those EYEBROWS, oh my goodness. I don’t know what he was doing but I love that I caught it.

Wesley is going through a bit of a separation anxiety phase, which was a riot when he was faced with a ton of faces he didn’t quite remember and people with beards and lots of loud toys. And then his top teeth started coming in. There was one middle-of-the-night freakout (sobbing from 3am to 3:20am while refusing milks, his binky, cuddling, not cuddling, you name it) and a couple of where-is-my-Mama crying jags every day, but he did great, all things considered.

Merry Christmas, Chubby Baby.

Christmas Eve

Saving my pennies

I just found something that I never knew existed but now really, really want:

MARTHA STEWART CRAFTING FURNITURE.

martha-stewart-craft-furniture

What a genius idea. Crafting specific furniture! No longer will you have to suffer through making do with crap furniture that doesn’t solve your organizational problems! There are shelves and drawers for all your needs!

Martha, I know I used to make fun of you, but the older I get, the more I appreciate your crazy craftiness and design aesthetic. I will be saving my pennies to someday buy some of these lovely items.

The Quilting Bee

There are so many nice things I could say about The Quilting Bee, but this holiday season I want to highlight just one:

Holiday Cards

I’m at an age where I know practically nobody aside from my cousins that sends out holiday cards. And I LOVE receiving cards! Every year on the Qbee forum, a Qbee member organizes a very informal card swap where we all exchange addresses and send our cards and then you sit back and watch the greetings roll in.

Sometimes people include stickers, or a sweet note, or maybe they just took special care in picking out the card. The exchange is open to members in all countries, and it is SO COOL to get an envelope from The Netherlands or Norway!

The holiday card swap isn’t the only great thing about the Qbee, but it’s the one I think about the most during the Christmas season. It makes the holidays that much more enjoyable, and I look forward to it every year!

If you want to learn more about The Quilting Bee or why you might want to join, check it out!
