Too Much Stuff For A Title

:note: some Iron Maiden DVD of Daniel’s

Our KitchenAid mixer came in the mail yesterday! We didn’t have enough butter then to make cookies, so Daniel got some and made cookies this evening and they are very delicious. Yay!

My C++ homework this week terrifies me – I have to make the game Memory (aka Concentration), but all text-based. You know the one, you pick up two cards and if they match, you keep them and you get a point, but if they don’t match, you put them down where they came from and just try to remember where they were in case you find its match elsewhere. I also have to have the option of shuffling the cards. :? The rest of it I think I might be able to get, but I’ve got no idea how to go about shuffling the cards (other than I have to pull two out and store them in variables, and then mix up the other cards in the array, and then put those two back in, or something to that effect). Ugh. I hate feeling stupid. :faint:

The two bras I got with my Victoria’s Secret gift card didn’t fit, despite the fact that I’ve bought several other bras from VS in the exact same size. I’ve sent them to be exchanged (for a 36DD, how stupid is that?) so hopefully they’ll get back to me quickly. The IPEX one seems totally fantastic.

Two bands I have to whole-heartedly recommend: WeltenBrand, and The Mission. Apparently The Mission was started by a guy that left the band Sisters of Mercy pretty early on. It sounds fairly similar to them (same style, lonely low vocals) but it does have its own feel. I like it muchly. My manager at work gave me a CD of theirs and I’m really liking it. WeltenBrand is awesome – I’ve got their CD “Der Untergang von Trisona” and it’s got cool choir-y chant-y vocals and metal vocals it’s just plain great. It’s a really long CD too, which I always appreciate because I think it’s sort of lame to buy a 27 minute CD for $15 when you could get a 70 minute CD for the same price. So. If you think you like the same kind of music as me, check these bands out. I think The Mission also goes by The Mission U.K. since their stuff was recorded in the U.K.

Speaking of the U.K., is it proper to say someone has a “British” accent, or an “English” accent? And Jem, no fair saying you guys don’t have an accent and it’s just us over here on the other side of the pond. :P Also, is it “Great Britain,” “The U.K.,” or “England?” It seems to me that if you’re specifically speaking about the country (not the whole island), it wouldn’t be “U.K.” since that stands for “United Kingdom” as far as I can tell. What do those of you that live there prefer? I’ve always wondered.

I think I forgot to mention that Daniel got me a 300GB hard drive for my computer because he is the most awesomest ever. Yes, you read that right. 300 GIGABYTES. At the moment, my iPod has more storage space than my computer (60GB vs. 40GB) and I’ve got tons of photos and music and whatnot, and I was getting worried that I’d fill it up. But now, I’ll have my original 40GB one plus my new 300GB one. I shall never run out of space again! Mwah ha ha ha ha! Now we just need to figure out how to install the damned thing.

I’m off to bed now, I think. I’m very tired. I keep falling asleep on the Poof chair (have for three nights in a row, I think) which means I wake up every couple of hours thinking “Maybe I should get up and go to bed” but I don’t until about 6am, so I basically just have a really horrible night’s sleep. And then our down comforter is so amazingly fluffy and warm and cozy that even if you go to bed at 10pm, you’d wake up at 11:30am feeling like you just need another few hours. You get a great night’s sleep, but you don’t ever want to get out of bed. It’s a weird phenomenon. I definitely recommend the comforter though.

Ohhh! I’ll have to listen to these bands you suggested because I know we have a similar taste in music.

300GB????? Holy crap! I can remember the hard drive in my first computer was 7 gigs and I thought that was a lot! Then I remember buying a 30GB one and wondering how in the hell I’d ever use that much space! Now I have a 120 in one of my computers and have maybe 5 gigs left. haha. You can never have too much HD space! This poor laptop of mine only has a 40GB drive. Definitely need to buy a bigger one…

English accent is better I think, as Welsh, Scottish and Irish accents are different.
Obviously there are many different English accents though, just as there are different American ones. ‘British accent’ I think generally refers to that very plummy posh accent that no-one actually uses anymore.

Great Britain is the land mass (England, Wales and Scotland), and the UK is England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It does get confusing sometimes though, but the wikipedia article is fairly helpful :)

I have a 120gig hard drive, which seems like a fairly mad amount of space considering that my old computer had about 25G of its 40G drive used up. I do agree that you can never have enough disk space!

  • 36DD huh? Me too. Me too. pfffffft

And a little further info, the `British Isles` refers to all of Scotland/England/Wales/Ireland and all the islands, including the Channel Islands.
