I’m Afraid Of The Library.

:note: Mortiis – “Broken Skin”

I have been listening to this Mortiis album non-stop since Daniel gave it to me. It’s awesome; it sounds sort of like a harder Nine Inch Nails has been combined with vocals from Marilyn Manson and Trent Reznor. Totally my kind of thing.

I had a nice lady come up to me at work today and tell me that she stumbled upon my site through our student directory and then spent a few hours looking through everything and just loved it. I was pretty surprised, but then again, it’s not like I’m difficult to find. If you Google “Meggan,” my site is first on the list! Google loves me again! Anyway, I feel awful that I can’t remember the lady’s name, but hello! Thank you for reading. :D Glad you liked it.

Work was oddly only moderately busy, what with it being the first day of the term and all. I can’t even count how many times I heard the question, “So, how was your break/New Year’s/Christmas?” Fine, people, fine! Downright boring! I am impossibly low-key.

Class was… meh. :| I have a paper due week 03 (since week 02 is a holiday and we don’t meet then) and another one due a few weeks from then, and then at the end of the term, there’s a 10 page term paper due. I’m not terribly stressed about actually writing the papers (I’m pretty strong in paper-writing, English-y type things), I’m stressed about thinking of a substantial topic that’s feasible to research. I hate research. I feel compelled to be a model student and scuttle to the public library tomorrow and check out tons of books, but, um, there’s Animal Crossing. And TEH INTERWEB!

Also, I am afraid the library will break my knees. See, last year, I checked out a bunch of research-y books for an English paper I had to write. After I returned them, a stray one showed up underneath a pile of …stuff… in the living room. The book was returned (I am not the book-stealing type) but there was obviously a fine. And, um, I haven’t been back since. I have no idea how much the fine is for, since I’m not sure how long the book was overdue (less than two weeks, let’s say), and the fine just been sitting there, stewing, for MONTHS. A year, in fact. Do library fines collect interest? I’m afraid to go to the library and have them tell me I’m not allowed to check out books because I’ve got an astronomical fine on my account and I am a bad person and they will hunt me down. You never know with those library people, man. You never know.

Off I go; there is some Animal Crossing to be had. :good:

  • haha your site looks great, and no I dont think library fines collect interest, but I know that if you dont return books they will put our warrants for your arrest for theft. Had a girl at work get turned down for a bartenders license because she had a warrant out for 4 books she had checked out like 2 years prior haha.

did you know mortiis used to be a member of the (very) black metal band Emperor? ;) And a friend of mine has a good fried who had an affair with him, thrilling, huhu? ;)

I’d be freaked out about going to the library, too. One time when I was in 4th grade or something, I stole a book from the library. Unintentionally, of course. They never came after me, though :D
