Breakfast

As I was eating breakfast this morning, I thought about what I like to have for breakfast. My favorite “fast” breakfast is a bowl of Trader Joe’s nonfat vanilla yogurt topped with dried blueberries and Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds. You basically eat the cereal with yogurt instead of milk, and the blueberries make it kind of like that Blueberry Morning cereal they refuse to sell at my grocery store for whatever reason.

My favorite “slow” breakfast is probably scrambled eggs, bacon, and pancakes. Daniel makes the best scrambled eggs ever. I grew up hating them because – get this – my mom used to MICROWAVE THEM. She would scramble them, pop them in the microwave, and then break them apart later. SO. GROSS. It was like egg Jell-O. Daniel cooks eggs like a normal human – in a pan on the stove. I rarely get bacon anymore so that’s always good, and pancakes are just plain delicious. I like to eat them with apple butter instead of syrup.

What are some of your favorite breakfasts?

As far as “slow” breakfast goes, I love french toast with apple butter. For a “fast” breakfast, multi-grain Cheerios are great. I used to love yogurt, but for some reason I get sick if I eat that stuff anymore.

You live in a world where there is apple butter? I am so envious . . .

I only ever eat PB & J sandwiches for breakfast. I can’t eat a lot in the morning and I actually never had ‘slow’ breakfast…

My favorite quick breakfast? Cold pizza. I like to make pancakes or waffles when I’m not running late.

What a lovely day to pop in to see your site! I LOVE breakfast! I go in 3-6 month shifts where I get stuck on one thing and insistently make it every morning. Coffee is always included. Right now, I’m between banana walnut and molasses pancakes, toast with avocado and an egg, and a really yummy slow breakfast of scrambled eggs with tomatoes, avocado, basil and cream cheese. Yummm.

I’m staying at a friend’s right now, however, and I had some very yummy crepes with brie and berries this morning.

    I love breakfast.

Ah, I do scrambled eggs in the microwave but I do it gradually. It’s a long process but does result in yummy eggies. You have to blast the eggs for about 15 seconds, whisk them up, blast them again and keep going until they’re still a tiny tiny bit runny (because food continues to cook after it’s been microwaved). It makes them light and fluffy, and is still relatively quick.

My favourite breakfast/s are just plain ol’ cereals like Honey Nut Cornflakes.. I tend to skip breakfast though, just because I forget to eat it.

My mom did microwave scrambled eggs too! She was one of those people with like 5 microwave cookbooks, all with yellow post-its sticking out of the top… as if there were recipes in there SO excellent that she just absolutely had to mark them.

I like french toast, but never have them anymore. Thanks for the reminder.

For the record, I have breakfast at like… 1pm. The joys of working 7pm-3am.

I’m incredibly dull and usually have cereal. Nothing chocolatey or sugary though, that’s disgusting. With fruit juice.

oh but at weekends/when hungover I do like a nice sausage and bacon sarnie

And what’s wrong with microwaved scrambled eggs? It gets the job done and tastes just as good doesn’t it? :?

Usually I have a bowl of oat cluster cereal with fruit bits. You know the kind.

Occasionally, when I’m out with friends and completed a night on the town, we’d all go to a greasy-spoon cafe and I’d have a full English Breakfast; bacon, eggs, beans, toast, hash brown and sometimes black pudding. Mmmm, black pudding…. :cheer:
