Experianced Barister

Daniel has been looking around Craigslist to find places to which he can submit his résumé. He found one today that totally took the cake – check out “coffee shop cashier / Barista” and try not to laugh too hard. (I can’t post it here because Craigslist terms of service say you can’t repost the message anywhere, but do go read it.)
The poster has misspelled:
experianced – experienced
Barister – Barista
pased – paced
enviornment – environment
opertunity – opportunity
experianced (four more times)
barister (again)
enviornment (again)
Seriously? Is spell-check really that difficult? Especially if you are posting to request someone come work for you? I see that post and I think “There is no way in hell I would ever work for someone who can’t even spell the job title for which they are hiring.” I know quite a few people that are self-professed poor spellers, but they understand that spell-check is an important part of writing and I respect them for that.
I couldn’t quite get where he was coming from with “Barister,” so I Googled it. Google suggested “barrister,” which upon further investigation happens to be “A lawyer admitted to plead at the bar in the superior courts.” according to Answers.com. So I still don’t know where he’s getting that.
I do think it would be fun to contact him about the job and feign ignorance – something like, “I see you’re looking for an “experianced Barister,” and even though I do not know what that is, I happen to be an experienced Barista and that sounds so similar that I think I could still be what you are looking for.” Heh. His misspelling of “paced” happens to be an acronym for Periodic Algebraic Separation Energy Demodulation, which could also be funny if used properly.
In this same vein, I was once reading a forum where someone used the non-word “fuctionable” (yes, with no “N”) to describe something. I was SO TEMPTED to post and say, “I think the word you’re looking for is ‘functional,'” but I knew I’d catch hell for it, so I didn’t. But trust me, I was definitely thinking about it.

I am a horrible speller, but I will (generally) spell check. I know in some cases it is pretty important to get the words spelled right.
Yesterday in my Web class, a girl brought in her layout, which was one of the better ones of the class. This is not saying much, most people brought absolute pieces of shit to class that makes me doubt they know/care about what actually looks “reasonable”. However, this particular chick spelled about every word you could possibly spell wrong. I really should send it to you because I was considering tearing my eyes out when I had to read over and over “The text goes her. The text goes her. and In house machanic.
Ha, I always correct people’s spelling in comps. I’m sure they hate me for it, but it’s seriously so obnoxious. “Machanic?” :faint: *dies*
MAN! The author took down that post! Maybe he found the Experianced Barister that he was looking for
Awwh, I knew I should have saved it somewhere. :o Well, just know that it was great.
I do a pretty bad job of spelling myself, which is why I make good use of spell-checking whatever text I type. I even spell-check (most the time) if I’m commenting on blog entries or message boards.
