Barista

:note: fans blowing (the bacon was smoky)

I haven’t said anything about this before because we weren’t sure if it was going to work out or not, but Daniel has quit his job at a thrift store to go work at a coffee shop. This is huge because he hasn’t wanted to work at the thrift store for almost a year, but nothing else better had come up and he needed the money. Now since we have all that rent credit each month, he can afford to take a cut in pay to do something he likes better. I’m really happy for him.

He was supposed to go there to fill out paperwork this morning, but he apparently got there at 7 and had to wait around for a slow time that never ended up coming. There were only two people working (the manager and someone else) and the manager was going to have to show Daniel around and look over the paperwork and stuff, so they had to wait for the traffic to slow down. Daniel ended up hanging out for an hour and the manager finally told him that they would have to reschedule because it wasn’t slowing down at all.

I was asleep when he came back home around 8, and woke up a few minutes later because I heard rustling in the house. I sat up and could see that the bathroom light was on, but I didn’t hear anybody come in and I was totally freaked out. It did end up being Daniel, but I was totally confused why he was home so fast.

I got up and got into the shower, and Daniel made us breakfast of toast and scrambled eggs and bacon. :yum: We actually got to talk and hang out a bit this morning, which is totally awesome compared to the rest of the week. I can’t wait until this stupid week of closing shift is over.

So congratulations to Daniel and the new job! Also, he makes great breakfasts.

That is really cool. I had a barista job and absolutly loved it. It is such a fun enviornment, and you are able to meet a lot of cool people.

Is he able to have a better schedule where you are able to see eachother more?

  • Meggan says:

    Jem: Indeed. :D

Nicole: Yes, but only because he’s going to be started at part time and then eventually moved up to full time. And he’ll probably be opening the store which means he’ll have to be there at like, 5am.

His schedule usually doesn’t suck this badly – one of his co-worker’s cars got stolen, so she couldn’t close because she’d have to take the long bus ride home at night by herself. So they put Daniel in for her closing shifts as well as his. Pfffft.
