About The Site

What’s With The Weird Name?

It’s all Daniel’s dad’s fault. He told me he had come up with a new name for me. I asked what it was, and he said “oipom,” because it stood for One Inch Past Official Midgetdom. He heard somewhere that the official cutoff height for being a midget is 4′ 10″ and I had managed to escape that by a mere inch, hence the nickname.

Essentially, I thought the domain name oipom.com had a nice ring to it, so I chose to use it when it came time to do so. If you ever meet me in real life (or if you know me already), I’ll probably look at you really weird if you call me “oipom” – it’s just sort of an online moniker. Daniel’s dad and his sister Heidi sometimes call me that, but I don’t really like other people doing it.

Hosting and Name Registration

My domain name is currently registered with GoDaddy.com, who I’d definitely recommend. As of June 1st, 2005, I’m now with Site 5 for hosting, and I have to say, they are phenomenal. Several times the space/bw than I had with Cyberpixels, and it’s cheaper and has better customer support.

I had purchased both the domain and the hosting package from Cyberpixels on March 24th, 2003. Cyberpixels sucks. Don’t even bother. They have bad customer support, they billed me twice for one month and refused to resolve it, and they billed me the month after I cancelled and claimed that I was supposed to cancel my own billing. Bleh. Nightmare.

Statement of Purpose

The main point of this site is not really a main point at all; oipom.com is a place where I can write what I want, post what pictures I want, and make things that are interesting to me. I probably surf my site more than anyone else does. I’m never sure if that’s weird or not. I’m usually concerned with having content that I would like to see on a site, not what other people would like to see. Basically, this site serves only to be an online representation of me and my personality.
