Yes, his nickname really is Pisseye. This is because when he was in Kindergarten, he went to the bathroom and he wasn’t very tall, so his “equipment” was resting on the edge of the toilet. For some odd reason, the toilet seat fell down on him, and he somehow peed in his eye. While this isn’t the most flattering story, all of his brother’s friends call him Pisseye so he’s constantly having to explain the story to people he barely knows. So hey! Why not share it with the whole Internet?

Daniel is obsessed with coffee. He works as a barista at the best coffeeshop in Portland (if I do say so myself) and attends cuppings (sort of like a wine-tasting, but for coffee) and conventions and reads lots of books on the subject. We have a home espresso machine. It’s a Vetrano, not something by Krups or Mr. Coffee, and I am not really sure if I am allowed to use it or not lest I screw something up. :) If you’re ever in the Portland area and need recommendations for coffee, let me know and we’ll get you squared away.

He’ll tell you he can’t cook very well, but he’s just being modest. He has an uncanny ability to detect particular spices in a given dish, and will regularly inform me that a dish includes Cardamom even though I have no idea what he’s talking about. See, he can cook and I can bake. It works out.

We went to middle school together - I remember him from science class in 8th grade, and he remembers me as “the cute blonde cheerleader who was friends with [X]” in the 7th grade. He once wrote “I’m sorry you are so short” in a yearbook of mine. In 9th grade, we had English I together and he used to tease me about not having knees and I would playfully punch him. Then I fell in love with his band, Invictus, and shortly thereafter fell in love with him. We started dating on June 24, 2001, a few days after my 16th birthday. Seven years later, we’re still going strong and celebrated our wedding on May 24, 2008.
