Monkey Puzzle

:note: the radio

Oog. I am so full. Daniel made us spaghetti for dinner :yum: and he makes his own spaghetti sauce and it is fantastic. I always eat way too much of it.

I went on a field trip today to the Hoyt Arboretum for my Environmental Science class. It was lots of fun. We looked at a bunch of different types of trees (one was called Monkey Puzzle and hiked up and down the trails. I discovered that I am hopelessly out of shape. Oddly, I found myself thinking I should just some up here sometime with Daniel and hike around for exercise. Don’t know what came over me. ;)

My cookies have been a huge success. I shared them with Richard and Jeremy at school and they both gushed over how great they were. I told my mom I was going to ask for a Kitchen-Aid for Christmas and she told me it was strictly a wedding present. :wtf: I couldn’t believe it. The things I could do if I had a Kitchen-Aid…

Daniel has requested that I cut his hair, so I’m off to do that now. Maybe I’ll go and get my hair cut on Thursday or something, just for fun. I never cut my hair as often as you “should,” it’s always something like every six months or so. At least it has been for the past couple of years, and that’s because I’ve ALWAYS had my mom cut my hair, so since I don’t live at home, my hair just doesn’t get cut really. It’s getting long again and it annoys me. And I want more layers. So maybe it’ll happen.

In the meantime, I am so excited for Leta. Yay!

  • I had some friends who played in a band called, alternately, Monkey Puzzle and/or Puzzle Tree in various incarnations. I didn’t realize it was a real tree. I just thought they were all really, really stoned.

Oh man, yeah. I *really* enjoyed my field trip. I couldn’t think of a better way to start off my day than hiking around in beautiful wilderness on a sunny, beautiful day and learning about trees/shrubs/natural habitat in my area. I enjoyed it so much. And I thought the Monkey Puzzle tree was very funny… I told Paul about it. I also told Paul that we should go hiking there sometime very soon… There’s actually a chance that we might go this weekend. I also mentioned to him those picnic tables under that big covering, which would be great for a picnic. So… perhaps sometime you, Daniel, Paul and I could bring a bunch of food, go hiking, and have a picnic? Sounds like fun to me…

‘Tis very possible. I think we should. We were discussing going next Thursday, since Daniel has that day off and I don’t have anything going on either. Dunno if that works for you.

  • Callie says:

Perhaps! We both have a night class then, but I see no reason in not going before-hand. A little wake-up hike-and-picnic never hurt anyone before a night class.
