The Faint

Paul totally bailed on Callie yesterday for going to the The Faint concert, :dis: so she asked me if I would go with her. I did, and it was actually a lot of fun. They played a couple songs I knew; most of them were from the new CD, I think.

The absolute most tone-deaf person in the ENTIRE UNIVERSE was standing behind us for part of it, and singing along very very loudly. It’s one thing to be a little off key, but it’s completely another to be so totally off that it barely sounds like the same song, and then you’re singing it AS LOUD AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN. It doesn’t really enhance the atmosphere of the show for all the people standing near you. Callie was about to kill him.

The opening band, “beep beep,” should die and rot in hell. :dead: God, they were awful. I think the bass player in beep beep was the bass player for the Faint, so I’m guessing that’s how they got signed, because it certainly wouldn’t be for their musical merit. That’s for sure. I could have killed the guitar player/singer guy. Oh man. Had they played for any longer, I think I would have had a nervous breakdown. ugh. How awful.

The next band was TV On The Radio, and they were fucking awesome! The singer guy was cool, and then the singer/guitar man had a huge afro and a huge beard. I called him “bearded afro man” to refer to him all night. He was absolutely great. I ended up buying their CD :cd: because they impressed me so much. They reminded me a little of Rusted Root, but slowed down by a million and a little less WOO JUNGLE PARTY UPBEAT YEAH!!! and a little more mellow, praise-ish soulful music. Oh man, they were so freakin cool. I’m really glad I got their CD.

Overall, I’m glad I went; I’m just sad that Paul had to totally bail out and be lame in order for me to go.
