Okay, so this WordPress install could have taken five minutes, had I just clicked on the Fantastico link on my cPanel menu thing. cPanel will just install it for you at the click of a button. Lame. I’m still trying to get this menu thing fixed up over here on the left – I’m trying to get rid of the things I don’t want without totally screwing up all of the PHP coding. I finally got my footer image done and I think it looks nice. It’s not too overpowering, I don’t think.
I sort of like this XHTML thing. It’s a lot more strict than regular HTML, but I like that my stuff actually validates. That’s definitely never happened before. And I can do pretty much the same stuff with valid code that I can with iframes and stuff like that. And this PHP include thing is supercool, because I can just have some content and then include the skeleton or template of the actual page, so I don’t have to write it over and over.
I still need to fix some things, like how the date is really big and bold and far away from the title of the entry. And how there’s this poor little bullet tag all by himself in the menu with no content. I can’t figure out how to get rid of it, because according to my code, it doesn’t exist. Weird. I also don’t like the idea of a calendar for my archives. I want to archive them by date, yes, but by title instead of visually. I want people to be able to click on “Fantastico, schmantastico” to go to this post instead of August 24th.
Speaking of August 24th, it’s mine and Daniel’s 3 year and two month anniversary today!
